'Oil painting - shadows and reflections'
|2018 Course listing coming soon.|
Wednesday 26th to Friday 28th July
This is a course for those who have done any basic beginner oil painting course, including 'Oil painting from scratch' on the previous two days. Using a constructed box and lighting for the still-life, we'll create strong shadows and reflections. You may paint something like a vase with a simple plant, greenery, flower; a glass bottle or be set-up with pebbles or fruit. Lin teaches using the colour wheel to show how coloured shadows work in 'layman's terms' and explains how to mix colours with ease. There will be plenty of help in basic drawing skills and composition as well as demonstrations on how to paint a simple stilllife. Each person will get a list of materials and suppliers. You will leave with two or three small paintings and a sample board.
Materials cost: £12 - This includes solvent, medium and loan of palette and palette knife. If you wish to bring your own paints, there will be information in the materials list sent later - but please then contribute £2 for solvent and medium. Odourless solvents are used at Summer School.
