Caroline Marriott.

2018 Course listing coming soon.

Thursday 27th to Saturday 29th July
Rag rugging is a lovely way of using up fabrics that may have been discarded, to make an attractive and useful item. The traditional technique of rag rugging using a hook and strips of fabric is easy to learn. We will start by making a sample using both the hookie and the proggy method. You will then be encouraged to create your own original design to make a mat, cushion cover or the beginning of a rug. Usually you would use old and worn fabrics cut into strips to rag rug with, but you can rug with many different materials and we will experiment with some of these. You will also have the opportunity to apply the techniques in a contemporary way to make the flowers and items of jewellery that Caroline has developed.
The tutor will bring tools for you to use on the course and to buy if you wish. She will also bring a range of materials for sale.
Felt Wearable CAROLINE MARRIOTT started her textile career crocheting stripey jumpers for fellow students at University.
