Thursday 2nd August to Saturday 4th August

On this course you will create your own unique fabric using a combination of fibres, threads and a variety of fine gauzy materials. Starting with a base of hessian you will build up a surface using bonding, hand stitching and then finish with a layer of machine stitch. This technique allows you to use up small pieces of precious fabrics and your outcome will depend on the threads and fabrics you bring. You will start by making a sample which can be made into a small item. You will then plan, design and make a larger piece and instructions will be given on how to turn the fabric you have made into a bookcover, a cushion or a simple bag.
A materials list will be sent to students and the tutor will have tools and materials for you to use and buy.
