Monday 30th July to Friday 3rd August

During this course students will study artists such as Klimt, Kandinsky and Hundertwasser to help generate ideas for design and stitch on velvet. You will experiment with white and black velvet, using dyes through pump sprays, and develop printing techniques making your own printing blocks to apply pattern and colour, as well as learning how to use transfer foil and mark making with irons and foiling pens. These surfaces will then be covered with glistening two tone organza ready for stitch. Students will explore machine embroidery as a surface decoration including cable, whip and vermicelli stitches to enhance design. Student will have time to explore their own ideas and ultimately leave with delightful shimmering embroideries.
Angie always brings lots of interesting materials and useful source ideas and there will be an exciting starter pack for sale at 10.00
