Monday 29th July to Friday 2nd August
Evolving from the landscape of the beach and the shells and pebbles found there we will begin the week indigo dyeing natural fabrics and thread. Using traditional Japanese shibori techniques these can then be discharged and printed with potassium permanganate to create a range of blues, browns and bleached backgrounds. We will look at a range of fabric manipulation techniques, pulled, layered and applique. Combined with hand and machine embroidery you can either create a range of samples for your sketchbook, complete an individual project or make a set of miniature books. The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as the more experienced.
Information about the fabrics, threads and general art materials you will need, will be given when you book.
