Monday 29th July to Thursday 1st August

We will use the technique of batik (hot wax resist) to create pieces of work inspired by trees - the structure, leaves, shape, seasons and topiary - maybe even family trees! We will work on different surfaces such as tissue, paper and fabric, separately and in combination. We will work with wax, bleach, inks and dyes to create fabulous textures and effects. There will be exploration of the use of collage materials combined with the batik and also oil pastel and wax crayon resist. All-in-all an exciting course allowing for exploration and discovery. The work will be suitable for further development by adding stitch and students may wish to bring a sewing machine but this is not essential. There will be a materials charge of £8.
