Monday 29th July to Wednesday 31st July
During this course you will focus on the 'gongbi' (or 'meticulous') style of Chinese painting, with
flowers and birds as the subject. This involves drawing with a pencil and a brush and adding shading and colour
in several layers. This is done on sized paper or silk. Using traditional Chinese materials, Maggie will guide
you through the process and explain the symbolism which is an important part of Chinese painting. You will be
able to back your work for display.
Chinese materials are available to purchase from Maggie. A complete starter kit is around £20. Paper for the course
will be charged between 60p to £1 per sheet and from £2 per 'sheet' for silk.
