'Drypoint Etching Techniques'

This workshop will teach you how to: select suitable images and reference materials; use etching tools to create your image on an etching plate; the chine colle technique and how you can express your own style through mark making, using texture, colour choice and composition.You will create prints working from your own imagery through drawings, photographs, magazine cut outs, print outs or sketch books. Beginners are welcome and I will offer step by step guidance throughout and advice on how to edition and mount your work. We will explore many etching techniques that will set you up to continue your exploration of etching and other methods of printmaking.
All materials and equipment will be provided, but please do bring along your reference material to work from.
There will be a £10 materials cost.
LIAM BISWELL runs an
outreach project called 'Printmaking
Workshops' that visits Schools,
Galleries, Art Centres, Festivals and
other places in the community. He
also runs a 3D making department
at a London University. Since his
Fine Art BA Liam has worked in
various studios before returning
to Higher Education to complete
an MA in printmaking. He is based
in Oxfordshire where, when not
teaching, produces his own screen
prints and etchings.
