Suitable for beginners and painters with
some experience, this course represents an
in depth look at all the major watercolour
techniques such as washes, blending,
wet into wet, dry brush, brush drawing
and many more. All techniques will be
demonstrated and their uses and
applications explained. Later in the course
we will look at some 'special effect'
techniques such as sponging, salt repel
and spattering then gradually move towards
putting all these skills into producing loose,
lively and original paintings.
A basic equipment list will be provided and there
will be guidance about further materials during
JOHN SOMERSCALES is a
figurative landscape painter. He is
a friendly and knowledgeable tutor,
with 10 years experience teaching
individuals and classes. He also
gives demonstrations at art groups
and societies. He is a member of
Oxford Art Society, has exhibited
with the Pure Watercolour Society,
and has had work shown in
Oxfordshire, London and Normandy.
He has had articles on painting
techniques published in The Artist.
