Monday 27th July to Friday 31st July
Learn how to compose abstract watercolours
directly from your immediate environment.
Structured drawing and painting exercises
will show you how to rapidly record the
abstract bones of a composition, using the
school as starting points. Short technical
demonstrations about working from
observation to abstraction, maximising colour
impact, loosening up, and watercolour's
unique handling will facilitate your work,
whilst reference to artists, e.g. Richard
Diebenkorn, Patrick Heron, Giorgio Morandi,
will give you broad principles and lots of
ideas. The course is suitable for beginners,
rusty returners and experienced painters.
Wherever you're starting from, this course
will enable some abstract manoeuvres.
You'll receive a list of materials/equipment to
bring, and watercolour paper and boards will be
available to buy.
