Using the exciting art of batik – hot wax resist – on paper and tissue paper with inks and bleach we will create exciting batiked surfaces which we will use to create folded books, considering how the shapes and imagery change with the folding. it will be possible to work to a theme should you choose ie trees, seed heads, natural forms or abstract mark making etc. You may also bring found papers to work on such as book pages and maps

Jenny will demonstrate a number of approaches to using hot wax resist using her contemporary approach, layering and adding wax using a range of traditional and non traditional tools and inks to create beautiful papers which will also be suitable for stitching into or using for collage as well making into books. She will also show you how to make her ‘laminated’ batik papers where it’s possible to incorporate scrim, lace etc.
