Batik is a traditional Indonesian technique using hot wax as a resist and usually worked on white fabric, in this workshop we will take a contemporary approach working on coloured tissue.  Inspired by these techniques we will work with inks and a bleach like solution using traditional and experimental tools to create beautiful images inspired by birds. We will explore different methods of mark making and extend ideas to include collage on different backgrounds

  • Pritt type glue stick
  • Hairdryer
  • Apron
  • Scissors
  • White or light paper such as handmade papers, old book pages etc up to A4

Materials Cost

Jenny will provide cartridge paper, tissue paper, wax, inks, use of all tools and equipment £3 per person.
