Ruth Packham is an artist maker based in West Wales. Ruth’s background is Fine art, graduating from, the then Newcastle Polytechnic in 1992.

Ruth is drawn to textiles and has been enthralled by using wool fibre and felt making techniques since she made her 1st piece of felt over 10 years ago. Inspired by nature, the patterns and colours of flora inform Ruth’s practice.

Ruth’s work is often playful, as seen in her ever evolving Quirky bird wool sculptures. Birds feature heavily in Ruth’s work both symbolically and as a celebration.

Ruth is passionate about using wool fibre from the UK and as much as possible, uses Welsh wool fibre in her work, particularly Cambrian mountain wool fibre.
